There comes a moment in many lives when we realise we have become very good at doing, but perhaps not so good at listening.
We live in a world obsessed with goals.
We are encouraged to set targets, make plans, work harder, become more productive, and constantly strive for the next achievement. There is nothing inherently wrong with goals. They can help us focus our energy and create meaningful change in our lives.
Yet there is a subtle danger.
Sometimes we become so busy pursuing goals that we forget to ask a much deeper question:
"Why am I pursuing this in the first place?"
Many people spend years climbing a ladder only to discover they have placed it against the wrong wall.
A goal arises from the mind.
A Sacred Vision arises from the soul.
Goals often begin with questions such as:
"What do I want to achieve?"
"How can I improve my life?"
"What should I do next?"
Sacred Vision asks something different.
"What is seeking to emerge through me?"
"What is life inviting me towards?"
"What wants to be born at this time?"
One is driven by effort.
The other is guided by listening.
For thousands of years, Vision Quests provided a way for people to step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with this deeper wisdom. Individuals would leave behind their routines and distractions, entering sacred space with openness and humility. They were not seeking more information. They were seeking revelation.
They understood something we have largely forgotten.
Wisdom does not always come from thinking harder.
Sometimes it arrives when we become still enough to hear it.
Nature has always been one of our greatest teachers. Sit quietly beside the ocean. Walk through a forest. Watch the changing sky. In these moments, something begins to soften within us. The constant mental chatter quietens, and a deeper voice can finally be heard.
This voice does not shout.
It whispers.
It speaks through intuition, dreams, synchronicities, longings, and the subtle pull of the heart.
Many of us have learned to ignore it.
We tell ourselves we are too busy. We postpone our deeper calling until someday. Yet the soul is remarkably patient. It continues to send messages, waiting for us to listen.
Perhaps this is why so many people feel restless, even when life appears successful from the outside.
The soul does not measure success in the same way the world does.
It longs for meaning.
It longs for connection.
It longs for authenticity.
It longs for purpose.
A Vision Quest is ultimately not about finding answers outside yourself.
It is about creating the space to remember what you already know.
When we pause, listen, and reconnect with our deepest nature, we begin to recognise the path that has been quietly unfolding beneath our feet all along.
The question is not whether your soul is speaking.
The question is whether you are willing to listen.
