In the shamanic traditions I teach and walk with, we are invited into a deep, sacred relationship with our inner world—our emotions are not something to bypass, but rather temples to enter. Each one holds keys to transformation, wisdom, and awakening.
These are not fleeting moods. They are ancient archetypes that live in the body and spirit, guiding us through life’s beauty and sorrow, joy and stillness.
Below are the Nine Emotional Temples we explore in the Nusta Karpay and other journeying work—offered here to deepen your personal practice and reflection.
This temple is radiant with the energy of sunrise. Joy is an elevated frequency that recalibrates your whole system. Even in difficult times, we can call upon joy as a medicine of remembrance.
Ritual: Journal three moments of joy you’ve experienced this week. They don’t need to be grand—sunlight on your face is enough.
Different from joy, happiness often arises from simplicity—clean sheets, warm tea, a kind word. This temple invites gratitude for the little things.
Practice: Offer gratitude each evening for three ordinary moments that made you smile.
Sadness takes us deep, into the sacred waters of the soul. This emotional temple helps us release, cleanse, and honour what was.
Journey Prompt: Ask your sadness what it has come to teach you. Let your tears be sacred offerings.
This temple is often misunderstood. Anger, when honoured with love, becomes sacred fuel. It teaches boundaries, courage, and the fire of transformation.
Breathwork: Stand barefoot. Inhale deeply through the nose and exhale with sound. Let the Earth transmute your fire.
Harmony is where all the emotions sit at the table together. It doesn’t mean perfection—it means listening, inclusion, and flow.
Altar Practice: Light a candle and call all emotions forward. Say aloud: “You are all welcome. Teach me.”
This temple invites laughter, spontaneity, and movement. It reminds us that Spirit is playful, and we are never too old for delight.
Ritual: Dance barefoot to music that lights your soul.
Wisdom is emotion matured into insight. It comes through lived experience, inner listening, and time in the still spaces.
Reflection: Ask your heart: What do I know now that I didn’t five years ago?
Here, we enter the quiet. It is the womb of all becoming, the breath between stories.
Practice: Sit with your hand on your heart in silence for 5 minutes. Let everything fall away.
Hope is the light we carry for ourselves and the generations to come. It is the thread that pulls us toward healing.
Invocation: “May I be a keeper of hope. May I walk with grace through uncertainty.”
Let these temples live in you. Visit them often. They are your sacred allies—guiding, mirroring, and blessing your path home.
With love from my altar to yours,
